Confessions of a Wanderluster! How it all began!
My name is Nina. I have been married to Ben for almost 30 years and we have two young adult kids, Emily and Max, both got their passport as soon as they had their birth certificate. I’m also a business owner that travels a lot for work.
I suppose you could call me a wanderluster—a person with an insatiable love for travel. It started early. I grew up in Sweden, and many of my childhood summers were spent crisscrossing Europe in our family’s RV. Those early adventures sparked something in me: a deep curiosity for new places, people, and cultures. Growing up my dad was a truck driver and I loved going with him on school breaks. From that I got a love for road tripping and I will share many of those trips with you. My first trip without my parents? I was just 15. A friend and I decided we wanted to fly to Stockholm to see Phantom of the Opera. We walked into the post office (that’s where you bought tickets back then!) and somehow scored front-row seats at the Royal Theater. We bought the plane tickets—and then told our parents.
At 18, I booked a two-week trip to Greece with friends. Not long after that, I made a bigger leap: I packed my bags and moved to the U.S. to work as an au pair. That was the moment I realized—adventure wasn’t just something I liked. It was something I needed.
Over the years, I’ve traveled with my husband , with our kids, and even as an only parent. I also do trips with my friends and sometimes alone for work. The kids and I have cruised through the Caribbean, road-tripped across countries, and brought friends along for the ride. Travel, for me, is at its best when it’s shared with the people I love.
This blog will be about all of that—traveling solo, romantic vacations, navigating the joys (and meltdowns) of family vacations, and planning unforgettable experiences that don’t just look good on Instagram but feel good in real life. I’ll share the wins, the mishaps, the itineraries, and all the little lessons I’ve picked up along the way.
Here’s to adventure—in all its messy, magical glory.
Yours truly,
Nina the Wanderluster
